Things have continued to be a little bit slow lately on the Halo toy news front (though I imagine you’ve all noticed that by now), but retailer BA Toys has uncovered some surprising intel on the Halo Mega Bloks 2014 offerings–the returns of small-scale Halo Mega Bloks sets! Now dubbed “Halo Mega Bloks Micro-Fleet”, the series will debut in January 2014 and feature three different UNSC vehicles in the first assortment…
There are a couple of important differences between the Mega Bloks Halo Micro Fleet line and their previous Halo Universe die-cast collection, however–
1.) Halo Mega Bloks Micro Fleet toys will be made of plastic. No diecast means a better value and a lower price-point.
2.) The Micro Fleet Halo Mega Bloks sets will each include a regular-sized 2″ Halo Mega Bloks figure and weapon.
3.) The Halo Mega Bloks 2014 Micro Fleet sets will come packaged in a Spartan helmet. This might sound a little bit weird, but think of the LEGO Star Wars Planets series (that unfortunately was a failure in its own right), where you would get a mini-build LEGO Jedi Starfighter inside of a plastic LEGO Kamino planet (or whatever).
The three initial 2014 Halo Mega Bloks Micro Fleet sets will be as follows–
Halo Mega Bloks Micro-Fleet Warthog Attack 97216:
- Includes All-new miniature scale buildable Warthog and Forerunner outpost
- Includes Halo Mega Bloks Master Chief Figure
- Weapons and Accessories: Railgun, baseplate
Halo Mega Bloks 2014 Micro Fleet Mantis Invasion 97270:
- All-new miniature scale buildable Mantis and Covenant Shade Turret
- Includes Halo Mega Bloks Metallic Silver Spartan Mark VI Figure
- Weapons and Accessories: Forerunner Incineration Cannon, baseplate
2014 Halo Mega Bloks Micro Fleet Hornet Assault 97224:
- All-new miniature scale buildable Hornet and Covenant lookout tower
- Includes Halo Mega Bloks Metallic Red Spartan Mark VI
- Weapons and Accessories: LMG (Light Machine Gun), baseplate
At this time there are absolutely no photos available of these sets, but with suggested retail prices of under $15 per set, please don’t expect anything amazingly detailed. These sets are going to end up being more along the line of the LEGO Star Wars Planets series vehicles and polybag set, meaning that they’ll be cheap, small and simple. I’ll update with photos and impressions of these Halo Micro Fleet Mega Bloks sets and my impressions of them as soon as photos of the line surface.
What are your thoughts on the Halo Mega Bloks Micro Fleet announcement, Halo fans? Are you in for small-scale Halo vehicles one more time, or are you all burned-out on miniature Halo lines that fail and disappear after one or two assortments?
Incineration cannon, huh? I might just have to pick that up…
These have me. I need them. The sets may be small and undetailed, but I’m gettin’ them.
This will fail among longtime Halo MB collectors, I think. I have invested in regular sized Halo MB for years and these are not compatible. Why go to the added expense of another scale? Does MB not get this?
It’s a definite possibility that these sets will fail. Even the LEGO Star Wars brand, which is WAY bigger than Halo Mega Bloks, couldn’t support sets of this sort. But it’ll really depend on the presentation and quality of the sets–I’m curious to see what MEGA Brands has been able to put together that they think fans will want to buy in such a small scale (and for cheap).
I,ve been waiting for them to do something like this, as I figured they would eventualy. I like the sound of it though, can’t wait to see some pics!
I think if they are serious about supporting these sets, and allow the line time to grow on consumers they will be surprised. The problem is they do not allow the sets time. ,
If things are slow on news why not put more reviews up?
like the pelican gunship pt2 or hornet vs vampire pt2
I’m still for micro sets, as long as they have stuff that’s compatable for my normal ones too. I will most likely get the one with the LMG for my sets and hang they helmet on my wall. I just hope the helmet isn’t like the new ODST drop pods.
