Well, this is certainly a first! This week, we got news of an all-new Halo Mega Bloks 2014 set coming down the pike not from MEGA Brands, not from a convention and not even from a factory leak. Nope! The next Mega Bloks Halo 2014 set has been revealed by… the German Amazon.de site. Crazy, right? Anyway, we can probably expect to see this set in person at the 2014 Toy Fair next month, but for now, let’s check out the hi-res images of the upcoming Halo Mega Bloks UNSC ONI REAP-X Quad Walker 97263…
The UNSC Quad Walker has been reverse-engineered from the Covenant Locust, one of my very favorite Halo designs–and the REAP-X Quad Walker is packing twin top-mounted plasma cannons, which should enable to it to easily outgun the Locust!
In addition to the Quad Walker, Halo Mega Bloks 97263 will include a copper Covenant Anti-Vehicle Shade Turret (sometimes called the Fuel Rod Shade). I’ve been wanting an Anti-Vehicle Shade variant for a while, so I’m pretty psyched for its inclusion in this set.
The Halo Mega Bloks Quad Walker 97263 set will includes a pair of figures, and both of them are real winners. First up there’s a gold Storm Elite figure, which looks excellent in shiny gold paint. This might be the best version of the Elite Storm Mega Bloks figure yet!
In addition, we get a GEN2 Recon Spartan in ONI REAP-X Navy Blue with Red Visor. I am quickly growing to love the ONI REAP-X Spartan armor color scheme, and this REAP-X Recon Spartan is no exception.Even the weapons for these two figures are strong entries, as we get another useful Halo 4 Storm Rifle and more importantly, the awesome Halo 4 Incineration Cannon!
At this time the exact pricing details and release date for the Halo Mega Bloks 97263 UNSC ONI REAP-X Quad Walker set is unknown, but I’ll post an update once MEGA Brands publishes more information on the set. And you can ‘Like’ Halo Toy News on Facebook to have future Halo toy news, updates and photos beamed straight to your Facebook Newsfeed!
What do you think of the first ONI REAP-X Halo Mega Bloks set of 2014, Halo collectors? Has REAP-X won you over yet, or are you still feeling apathetic towards these non-canonical sets?
Urgh. Pass. Sorry, doesn’t do anything for me. 🙁
But at least my wallet can recover after the awesome Mammoth.
Personally I really like the REAP-X line. It’s new and exciting, and it’s got lots of incentive, new fig’s, new weapons/accessories, new pieces, and new colours.
Yeah, that’s also my opinion. I don’t know why everybody hate the REAP-X line so much.
I like the idea of the REAP-X line, I just haven’t like any of the designs yet (the VTOL came closest to a “like”).
On a side note, I thought that a Mega Brands rep had mentioned in an interview that there was a chance some of their REAP-X vehicles could show up in future games and thus be considered canon.
i saw this on toywiz.com the other day for preorder at 32.99, which i thought was pretty good.
i’ll probably still pass as haven’t even got all the 2013 sets (being in australia makes it hard to get a lot of sets at a decent price especially american exclusives) and i would prefer them making some of the figures and vehicles they haven’t done yet or that need redoing (prophets, drones, more flood types, covenant watchtower and more sets like high ground/cauldron clash)
Agreed, Ethan. I’m really hoping 2014 is the year they finally give us a Spirit.
At one point images of a spirit prototype were released but I’m not sure what ever happened to them as that was quite a while ago.
There was a Prototype Spirit At HaloFest 2011.
It was a vote contest, Between a Spirit, The Sabre, and 1 other (Firebase I think)
The Sabre won and the Spirit hasn’t been made since.
The Covenant Watch Tower HAS been made, But has only been released with the exclusive red hornet.
Personally, I Want the Covenant Shadow From The Halo 2 Level Outskirts when you had to drive the Warthog through the Highway Tunnel (If you can’t remember them They had a Turret with a Ridiculous RoF and they Carried 1-2 Ghosts)
Personally I Wouldn’t Mind a Scarab This year for the Signature Series, As Long as it Carries some Great Covenant Figs.
To me the Reap-x sets don’t really fit with the unsc naming scheme, and I’ve taken to calling the VTOL the “Wasp”.
I’m going to call it the “wasp” now, too. Awesome name. I think i’ll call the quad-walker the “Arachnid”
I must say, after my initial reservations the REAP-X sets really conquered my heart. They look really cool, have some great figures and secure he renewal of low-cost sets. Also, I must add that pictures don’t do them justice, in my opinion; they are the kind of set that just looks so much better on a shelf than on the internet. 🙂
The new recon is cool, but i realy need a fotus spartan with his light rifle
I really want a FOTUS figure but I think that he shouldn’t be in this set for some reason. This set is not FOTUS-ish (if that’s a word) in my opinion.
The MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/FOTUS is a variant of MJOLNIR [GEN2] utilized by the SPARTAN-IV’s. It is manufactured by 343 Industries and was tested in Kirkland, Washington, URNA and received high movement proficiency ratings for coffee runs on rainy days.[1]
Needs a Coffee shop for FOTUS to be released LOL
Honestly, I think a fotus spartan should be in a low-priced pack that also includes a promethean knight, a watcher, and a crawler. There would also be a small forerunner structure, akin to the one in the warthog resistance set. And there would be a “customize!” piece for the watcher (blue wing-things. the circles?). The set should be 10-15 dollars. I would buy the h3ll outta that!
Maybe that low-priced set will be a battle-pack-kind of set. I think that it will be better as a battle pack. “Forerunner battle pack” , sounds cool. Did I say too much “battle pack” in this comment? LOL
I think they should make an armor customize set that includes a bunch of different armors and guns like the lightrifle and concussion rifle.
@Agasy It would be neat to have it as a battle pack, but i still want the forerunner structure in there. Still cant decide on a name. Maybe “promethean battle pack?
Armoury sets were something that mega did, I think they had to stop it in the end as it wasnt favourable to have loads of armour pieces everywhere.
I hope that the spartan will have wash on him because I don’t want him to be glossy and shiny.
Why not?
Because he will look fake. The spartans’ armor should look like it was in a battle, not in a car wash or something.
Not liking the design on the ONI stuff. and not being Canon has something to do with it I think. The designs just dont look utilitarian? They look more sci-fi than halo uses for their UNSC style. The figures are all great though so far. I only kept the oni bike, but the vtol was junk. and this thing just looks silly.
The ONI REAP-X stuff meant to resemble covenant viechles (don’t know how to spell that junk). The quad walker is a locust.
They are canon. Mega Bloks and 343 said it was.
EVERYONE! THE 2014 NEW SETS ARE OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not the walker though…:( ) SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY
Um, where are you seeing this?
official halo website (for megabloks)
duh, why would i say “official”
Ah, you mean the sets we know about so far are on the official site now. By your level of excitement I guess I was hoping you’d found some news about 2014’s main lineup, beyond the winter/spring pre-game.
Man, now I can’t wait for February even more…
Well, looks like it’s official now: http://halo.megabloks.com/en-us/toys/construction/unsc-quad-walker-97263
Interesting that it can be deployed like a drop pod from orbit. I wonder if that means with a pilot in the cockpit.
Ugly. It’s a Falcon cockpit on a Mantis chassis with Locust legs. I’m interested in everything in that set BUT the main part!
I disagree with you. I think thatthis set looks very interesting. The combination of the different parts in the quad walker make it special and unique
Exactly! It looks like somebody didn’t know what to do with their spare parts so they slapped them together and came up with this. I haven’t liked any of the REAP-X line but this is the worst entry so far.
It looks like a mix of covenant and UNSC tech, and that’s what it’s supposed to look like. Just go whine and b*tch somewhere else.
And now you’re telling me you WOULDN’T want to drive that?
