It’s sad but true, Halo fans: McFarlane Toys doesn’t love us anymore. At least as far as Halo San Diego Comic Con 2013 exclusives go. No, this year McFarlane is concentrating on their current cash cows–Assassin’s Creed figures and The Walking Dead figures. I understand that both those properties are pretty hot right now, but it feels pretty crummy for McFarlane to leave its longtime Halo fans in the cold. I had resigned myself to the knowledge that there would be no Halo SDCC 2013 Exclusives to look forward to. But wait–There is another! Today, Funko announced two highly unexpected Funko Halo 4 SDCC Exclusive POP Vinyls!

Considering that Funko hasn’t said squat about any expansion of their Halo 4 POP! Vinyls figure line since the first four figures were released ages ago, I assumed that Funko had had their fill of the Halo franchise and didn’t have anything new in the works. And maybe they don’t have any new molds in the works–but that doesn’t preclude the possibility of getting some awesome repaints of the two Spartans they’ve previously released, right?! And that’s just what we’re getting at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con next week!

First up is a Halo 4 green Spartan Warrior Funko POP! Vinyl figure. This figure is a repaint of the red Spartan Warrior vinyl figure that Funko released last year to coincide with the Halo 4 video game. You can tell that the green Spartan is a repaint of the red, of course, because the red Spartan Warrior POP! Vinyl was the only previous one to carry a Railgun.

The other SDCC Halo 4 Exclusive figure is a bright yellow Warrior Spartan POP! Vinyl figure. This one is a repaint of the prior blue Spartan Warrior from last year’s Halo 4 line, as you can tell from the fact that he’s carrying a DMR. It’s very rare that we get a bright yellow Spartan, so I really like the garish color scheme of this Funko Spartan Warrior.

The Spartan Warrior armor has never been released in yellow or green colors from any other merchandise company, so I think this is at least a somewhat cool exclusive combo that Funko has put together for us! In addition, the boxes for both figures have been modified so that the artwork shows the color of each Spartan on the box–most of the time Funko just uses the art for the regular figure and sticks a variant vinyl into the boxes with non-matching packaging art.

Both the yellow and green Spartan Warrior vinyls will be limited to just 480 produced and sold for $15 at the Funko Booth at SDCC next week. All of the other Halo Funko POP! Vinyls are available now from Amazon for under $10 with free shipping and no tax.
