There hasn’t been any sneakiness or subterfuge going on with the McFarlane Toys Halo 4 Cover Master Chief statue. No, it was shown on the Halo Waypoint website and even displayed unannounced at San Diego Comic Con 2013–we definitely knew this high-end Master Chief statue was on the way. What we didn’t know was the price, release date, and specs of this exquisite Master Chief Halo 4 statue–that is, until now! McFarlane Toys has released full details of their upcoming Halo 4 Master Chief statue, and the Master Chief cover statue is already up for online pre-order!
Easily the single coolest aspect of this Halo 4 cover art statue is that it will come with not one, not two, but three totally different interchangeable weapons: a Promethean Boltshot, an Energy Sword, and a UNSC Assault Rifle. I’m bored with Assault Rifles, but I’m going to have a tough time choosing between displaying the Master Chief with the always-stylish Energy Sword or the slick new Boltshot.
This statue is (obviously) inspired by the cover art from the original release of the Halo 4 video game, which is an iconic choice. While the Halo Forward Unto Dawn statue McFarlane Toys released last year was extremely cool, it didn’t feel as “classic” as this year’s Master Chief statue–this Halo 4 Master Chief statue is a more recognizable piece and easier to connect with, in my opinion.
The McFarlane Halo 4 Master Chief statue is currently available for pre-order from online retailers, and should also be available via the McFarlane Toys official online store on December 6, 2013. The Master Chief Halo 4 statue is scheduled to be released in December 2013-February 2014 (it can be tough to nail down an exact release month for a high-end statue like this).
What do you think about the new McFarlane Toys Halo 4 cover statue, Halo collectors? Is this a must-have for your collection, or is ~$350 too rich for your Halo-collecting blood?
I’ll pass. I love Halo and everything but $350 is a little high.
Why does the site you linked have a higher price and later release date than the official site?
EE gets their Master Chief statues from the allotment for Diamond Comics Distribution/Previews Magazine. Their retail price is higher, but the shipping is free, so it works out to be pretty close as far as the final price goes. The advantage is that online retailers getting their statues through Diamond are taking pre-orders, so collectors have a backup when the Spawn Store sells out. Considering how many people paid $600+ for the Forward unto Dawn Hunters Statue last year after it sold out instantly on the Spawn Store, paying a couple bucks more for a guaranteed order that can be canceled doesn’t look all that bad. The release date is later because the McFarlane Toys sends the statues to Diamond and then online retailers, rather than directly to customers.
Thanks for the answer!
If I had $300 burning a hole in my pocket, I would get the ThreeA figure. Or Emile. He’s pretty cool, too…
