The nature of Funko’s POP! Vinyls is that they only release a few from each theme every year (other than Marvel, DC, and Disney), so it’s not too often that I get to report on Funko news. But today is your lucky day, vinyl collectors, because the Halo 4 POP! Vinyls were officially revealed and solicited by Funko today.
Thanks to an early leak from the Barnes and Noble website back in July, we knew that the POP! Vinyls for Halo 4 Series 1 would include the Master Chief, Cortana, and a Spartan (though we didn’t know what color or kind). Now that all of Funko’s cards have been revealed, we know that the Spartan figure is in fact a Spartan Warrior, and it’s available in both red and blue varieties! And while I think that it’s pretty cool that Funko has differentiated the Spartan Warriors by giving them different guns and different visor colors, they’re actually not my favorite Halo 4 POP! Vinyls…
The standout from this set to me is Cortana, as she gets relatively few toy releases compared to the flood (no, not that one) of Master Chief figures that companies unleash on the market. While in the typical adorable Funko style, I think this Cortana POP! Vinyl actually captures the details of the character just as good (if not better) than the McFarlane Toys Halo 4 Cortana Series 1 Extended figure does. Also, I love that Funko included the holographic projector base with Cortana, even though POP Vinyls typically do not include any kind of base.
The official numbering for these Halo POP Vinyls is 03-06, as Funko previously released two figures from Halo 3: the Master Chief and a Grunt. This is the first time that Cortana or generic Spartans have been produced as vinyls by Funko.
With the release of Halo 4 Series 1, the complete list of Halo POP! Vinyls released so far by Funko is:
01 — Master Chief
02 — Grunt (Orange)
03 — Master Chief (Halo 4)
04 — Spartan Warrior (Red)
05 — Spartan Warrior (Blue)
06 — Cortana
All of the POP! Halo 4 Vinyls are available for order over on BigBadToyStore right now, and should arrive in regular retail stores sometime in November.
