Despite the fact that the individually-carded Halo 4 Series 1 action figures haven’t hit stores yet, McFarlane Toys has started the solicitations for series 2–and it’s a good one!

The McFarlane Halo 4 Series 2 case will contain 8 figures, with the following case breakdown:

(1) Commander Thomas Lasky
(1) Elite Ranger
(1) Storm Jackal
(1) Spartan Scout (Team Orange)

Here’s some notable facts and overall thoughts about this series of Halo 4 figures:

This is the first time that orange and purple Spartans have ever been sold as part of a non-exclusive, individually-carded wave of figures. Up until now, every purple Spartan had been a BigBadToyStore exclusive, whereas the orange Spartans had been a mix of Toys R Us and overseas exclusives. It’s pretty thrilling to finally see these colors get some love in the main McFarlane Halo 4 action figure line! And might I add that the Spartan CIO armor permutation looks really freaking awesome.

The Storm Jackal is aesthetically a radical redesign from any Jackals we’ve ever seen before. This is just the fifth Jackal figure that McFarlane Toys will have ever released, as they only did two for the Halo 3 line and two for the Halo Reach line.

Commander Thomas Lasky is the main character of the live-action “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” mini-series, and the character will also appear in the Halo 4 video game. Considering fans had to wait a decade to get a Captain Keyes action figure, it’s great that Commander Lasky will be appearing on collectors’ shelves in just a few short months!

The Elite Ranger in Halo 4 Series 2 looks drastically revised from the earlier appearance of the character in Halo Reach Series 5. The character artwork we’ve seen for the new Elite Ranger looks more like Batman villain Mr. Freeze than it does the old Elite Ranger design.

Yes, unfortunately, 25% of the case will be made up of Master Chief action figures. No word on what (if any) changes will be made to the Master Chief figure itself, but if nothing else, it looks like the Master Chief will come packed with an all-new weapon: the ARC-920 Railgun! In addition to the high explosive-firing Asymmetric Recoilless Carbine-920, this new Master Chief figure will also come with a free Halo Micro Ops scaled Cortana figure that can be held in the Master Chief’s hand! So even if this Master Chief figure itself is the same, this release will have several major new accessories included to really set it apart.
