For months speculation has run rampant as to the retail store that would obtain the fabled Steel/Green Spartan CIO figure exclusive as part of McFarlane Toys Halo 4 Series 2. Would it be the latest in a long history of Walmart or Gamestop Halo exclusives? Would Target or Toys R Us be returning Halo action figures to their rightful throne of prominence within their action figure aisles? Could Amazon be looking to stage a coup and claim the richest McFarlane Halo 4 Series 2 exclusive figure for themselves? Well, it turns out it’s none of the above. Instead, the C.I.O. Spartan exclusive green and steel action figure will be going to the wretched hive of scum and villainy known as Walgreens…
After Halo collectors’ agony hunting down the Walgreens Exclusive White Spartan JFO action figure in 2012, I had hoped to never be forced to set foot into a Walgreens store again. Alas, McFarlane Toys has not heard my prayers, and is forcing me into perusing Walgreens stores yet again. After the debacle that was the Halo Reach Spartan JFO Walgreens exclusive, I truly never expected to see another Walgreens Halo figure exclusive. But, well, here we are. No, I am not pleased.
And of course, we can’t forget that this isn’t just a Halo action figure that will be exclusive to Walgreens–there’s also the matter of Halo 4 DLC (downloadable content) to consider. The decision to make the green/steel Spartan C.I.O. figure a Walgreens exclusive means that the Halo 4 Bones DMR Skin DLC will also be exclusive to Walgreens. And while I don’t play Halo 4 video game multiplayer, I have to admit that I kind of want that code regardless.
What do you think about the Walgreens Exclusive Halo 4 Series 2 Spartan CIO (Steel/Green) figure, Halo collectors? Is this Spartan worth the trouble he’s likely to be to obtain, or are you going to give the exclusive CIO Spartan (and his awesome Halo 4 DLC Bones DMR Skin) a pass?
Well it isn’t that bad. There are hundreds of Mcfarlanes Walgreens exclusive Walking Dead Series 4 figures on EBay for an average of $20. So that means the Walgreens probably got a full case of that figure alone. Hopefully the same thing happens with this.
I would have no issues with straight case packs of the exclusive for Walgreens. My issue would be if they packed the Spartan CIO 1-per-case-of-8 like they did the White JFO. Man, that was a pain for people.
I’m not a big fan of the CIO armor, but I like the deco of this figure. If I can find it, I might actually get it. Depends on how good it looks in-person, and what Wallgreens charges for it.
I’m pretty sure they don’t even have Walgreens in Canada so this is a pass for me.
This figure is a must have for me. Has mcfarlane confirmed a release date yet on series 2?
Allegedly October 2013. I’m still hoping for late September.
Honestly, my fervor for collecting McFarlane Halo figures has pretty much died. I think I’ll just focus on MB Halo and Gunpla for now.
I agree… Mcfarlane has blown their fans away…. not in the good way. Besides the Didact figure which was a huge surprise to me, the fact that nothings gone on in literally a year is depressing. I remember when Halo 3 and Reach figures had like 2 sets of series (regular series/ and the two packs) coming out every two months! that was awesome!
But I do think the Wallgreens idea is spot on as you described it, a huge hit or miss. For me, i’m going to be hopeful that because maybe there are no other halo collectors in my area, no one will bother checking it out. I feel a little safer knowing that its at WALGREENS lol, not at a place like gamestop where I know other collectors/regular halo fans might see it, the awesome deco, and the exclusive skin, and just pick it up. That would be a REAL tough thing to find.
Anyways, the green and gray color is my favorite color scheme so this guy basically speaks to me “I WAS MADE FOR YOU” so I’ll likely buy this if i find it
Ok, i admit this is off topic, but i just got my gausshog. the lights and sound only work on the headlights. If you,re careful enough, you don’t have to use the electronic features. they are activated by pushing down on the front. the knight is great, but i think it would be better if mega brands included a watcher, because it wouldn’t leave a big hole in the back of the knight, and it would be more of a fair fight (unlike when master chief fights armies.) the suppressor is good, althouh i wish the peg was removable, you can’t even fit the peg on the spartians’ backs.it looks perfect on the knight, so i think i will be displaying it more on the knight. I like the choice for the guns, as well as the figures.
If i were grading, i would give this a A-.
I have 2 Walgreenes within minutes of my house. I don’t really see the big deal behind it. Walgreenes is more common than some of the other exclusive retailers, especially the Halo 3 Spartan figured. I saw the Walgreenes JFO figure quite a lot.
