With the Halo 5: Guardians video game hitting stores in mass next week, anyone who thought we weren’t going to get anything special in the way of a Limited Edition Halo 5: Guardians soundtrack would be forgiven (seeing as how 343 Industries wasn’t exactly forthcoming with the information). But finally, this week Microsoft broke the silence regarding the release of an extra special version of the newest game’s music, and we now know it’s on the way: the Halo 5 Limited Edition Soundtrack is now up for order!
The bulk of Halo 5’s soundtrack was composed by veteran composer Kazuma Jinnouchi, who is best known for his legendary work on the music for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
The complete list of details Microsoft/343 Industries has made available regarding the LE Halo 5 OST is as follows:
Limited Edition ($49.99):
- 2 compact discs
- Vinyl double album
- Blu-ray with 5.1 Surround-Sound edition soundtrack and cinematic exclusive, “The Sprint – Making Halo 5: Guardians”
- Orchestral sheet music of “Jameson Locke” from the recording session at Abby Roads Studios
- Digital download card featuring exclusive bonus tracks
…And that’s really all the information that’s been released about this set, believe it or not. That said, we can probably reasonably assume that the tracks from the regular CD Soundtrack and the Vinyls will be included with the Limited Halo 5 Soundtrack as well, so the following tracks should be included at least…

This limited edition version of the OST will also be the single most expensive version (as you would expect from the “limited” one), with a retail price of $49.99. Thankfully, Amazon (the only place that I’ve spotted the set up for order thus far) has a pre-order discounted price of $37.99 right now. It’s still more than I like paying for a game soundtrack, but new main Halo titles don’t come every year! I’ll take it!
The Halo 5: Guardians Soundtrack Limited Edition set is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released on October 30, 2015 (and yes, I’m aware that that’s three days after the game is officially released). Amazon currently lists November 20th as the release date for the LE Halo 5 Soundtrack, but that’s the only place we’ve seen that date, so I’m assuming it’s a placeholder date that they’ll correct before the official release of the set.
Although we’ve currently got zippo photos of the actual set and scant details, I knew the instant it was announced that this was the version of the soundtrack that I was going to own. What about you, Halo fans? Will you be dropping $37-$50 on the limited edition version of the OST, opting for one of the cheaper CD/Vinyl versions, or passing on the Guardians soundtrack altogether?
