Halo 5: Guardians may not be released for a few more days, but the Promethean Invasion has begun a little bit early! Although MEGA Brands hasn’t made a big deal about it, one of the final Halo Mega Bloks sets to be released this year has been spotted in the wild (and immediately scooped up to be scalped online): the Mega Bloks Halo 5 Promethean Weapons Customizer Pack has appeared for sale online!
Because Mattel/MEGA Brands limited the amount of information available to bloggers at the New York Toy Fair 2015 in February, my knowledge of the details of this year’s Halo Mega Bloks sets for the fall has been spottier and less complete than usual.
And it’s for that reason that I was totally taken aback to see that a set I didn’t know was coming at all had already been found at a store in the United States: the Prometheans Customizer Pack!
This pack contains two Mega Bloks Promethean figures: a silver Promethean Soldier (which is a slight recolor of the ones from the Phaeton Gunship set) and a dark grey Promethean Sniper (a character who hadn’t yet been released as a toy by any company).
Since Halo 5 Guardians’ campaign hasn’t been released yet, we don’t know a ton about these figures, but we do know that they come with a veritable treasure-trove of Forerunner weapons and accessories!
Each figure gets three guns with paint deco, two Pulse Grenades, a Hard Light Shield and a weapons locker. The best part is that all of the guns have paint detailing on them, as we sorely needed more of these painted Forerunner guns.
The Promethean Soldier Mega Bloks figure comes with a Scattershot, Boltshot and Light Rifle, while the Promethean Sniper gets a Binary Rifle, Suppressor and Incineration Cannon. The Promethean Soldier’s weapons are silver (like his armor), while the Promethean Sniper has dark grey weapons that match his armor.
I love the pair of translucent orange Hardlight Shields that come with this pack, but I am disappointed the Pulse Grenades are purely translucent orange and don’t have any silver/grey paint apps. Seems like a missed opportunity, but perhaps another time.
The Promethean Weapons Customizer Pack Halo Mega Bloks set will begin hitting stores in greater quantities throughout the fall, and will be priced at $10-$12 (the standard Customizer set price).
What do you think of this unexpected new Halo 5 Mega Bloks set release, collectors? Are you going to army-build with this pack, or are you taking a wait-and-see attitude before deciding how much you like (or dislike) these Prometheans in-game?
Looks like I need to make a few more check-ins at the local TRU.
Speaking of the Phaeton set, I saw an ad for the Phaeton on sale but it was advertised as the Halo Pegasus set.
All halo 5 sets had code names during development of the sets and they may have forgotten to tell the store what the actual names are? I dunno but I know that Pegasus was the code name for the phaeton and Scylla was the Scorpion code name (I think)
Any idea on when these will be available outside of ebay?
I’m sad as they had this and the new Spartan customizer at Walmart and I wanted to get them but they didn’t have them even in the files yet so I had to leave because I didn’t wanna wait 4 hours for the admin to get there :/
I bought this thing and really it is not that bad, its got nearly all the good promethean weapons and the details on the figures are really good but the shields they come with are hard to hold for the figures and the shields are a little too big.
