While MEGA Brands didn’t want to show off all of their Summer/Fall 2015 Halo Mega Bloks sets to the press at the New York Toy Fair 2015 last week, one set that they had no problem showcasing features a new version of the most iconic vehicle in Halo lore. Coming later this year–it’s the Halo 5 Mega Bloks UNSC Attack Gausshog set… with Master Chief and Arbiter figures!
Maybe it’s The Arbiter’s slick character design and golden armor, maybe it’s his dashing nobility streak, or maybe it’s just the fact that he has the voice of Goliath from “Gargoyles”, but me and the Arbiter bonded during Halo 2 and he’s been my favorite major Halo character ever since.
While I’ve always felt a bit of a void in my collection by the omission of an official mass-released Halo Mega Bloks Arbiter figure (from this time period–the Halo Wars Arbiter doesn’t count), I thought that an Arbiter Mega Bloks figure was a hole that would never be filled.
But apparently, MEGA Brands thought otherwise, because an official Halo 5 Arbiter figure is packed (alongside a new Master Chief figure) with the Mega Bloks Halo 5 UNSC Attack Gausshog CNG66 set coming this summer!
Both the Master Chief and Arbiter figures will feature the super-articulation and interchangeable armor that debuted in last year’s range of Halo Mega Bloks toys.
Arbiter will include a translucent blue Covenant energy sword while the Master Chief will have his trademark Assault Rifle.
I told myself I didn’t need any more Warthogs other than a new Arctic one, but MEGA Brands will be claiming my $34.99 for this Halo 5 Warthog set this summer, no questions asked.
What do you think of the new Halo 5 UNSC Attack Gausshog set, Halo collectors? Will you pick up this set (even if just for the Arbiter figure), or do you already have all the Mega Bloks Warthogs your collection can handle?
Yes! We get another Thel ‘Vadam figure! I really need the Halo Fest one, but this one seems to do just as well. So hyped for this set to hit. I am not going to wait on this one to drop in price. Im going to take it without question.
I am so glad they went with the older warthog design from the Reach sets rather than the Halo 4 setup. Since its a Halo 5 set does this mean the ‘hog has a new iteration for it?
Oh! And i knew that that version of warthog would look good with the Halo 4 bumpers… was tempted to try mashing my blue rocket ‘hog’s bumpers with the Halo 4 one but was struck by a case of the laziness.
Isn’t this just a better version of that exclusive San Diego black Gausshog with the not-arbiter and not-master chief?
I mean, it is an updated version of a Warthog, with updated versions of Arbiter and Master Chief. I don’t think MEGA is specifically trying to make a “better” version of the exclusive Warthog, though–I think it’s just a coincidence that they’ve packed the most iconic Halo characters with the most iconic Halo vehicle again.
The pictures from Toy Fair use the same warthog from the SDCC set, but the official product picture shows a far superior, well updated version.
You can see the professional image has the new bumper, will feature new pieces and I’m sure it has many pros.
As for if this is a coincidence, no. This version of the Warthog was only featured on PC, so the chances of their releasing the same design randomly is very little. They’re trying to recreate the original set, sort of how 343 Industries made the ‘Anniversary’ games to Halo CE and 2. Not a copy, a development.
All I can go on is what the MEGA Brands reps told me at the Toy Fair, which is that this is intended as a Halo 5 set. Presumably we will see this Warthog in Halo 5. They certainly could have been wrong, but that’s what I was told direct by MEGA Brands at the event.
They should make the box art like the original exclusive set, which also features the black/yellow warthog, Chief and the gold Arbiter.
“The Arbiter. Maybe more than any other figure, a symbol of what the galaxy could become one day.” -Captain Lasky
I will definitely be getting this set as soon as its on the shelves
I’m getting it too even if it costs me 100 USD
34.99? this set was only $24.99 here in indiana but walmart was selling em low at just $18
I got this set for christmas and it is pretty good for a story line but it could use two covenant or flood enemies just to make worth $24.99. 🙁
