Halo Mega Bloks 2014 Micro Fleet Photos! Warthog, Mantis, Hornet!

When I first heard about the upcoming Halo Mega Bloks Micro Fleet sets last week, I immediately surmised that the concept was a sort of Halo copycat approach to the LEGO Star Wars Planets series. Well, we’re about a month away from the Halo Mega Bloks 2014 Micro Fleet sets from reaching North America, but they’ve already begun to hit in China. As a result, photos have now surfaced confirming that these sets are in fact exactly what we all thought they were going to be! Coming in 2014–Halo Mega Bloks Micro Fleet Mantis Invasion, Hornet Assault and Warthog Attack sets!

Halo Mega Bloks Micro Fleet Mantis Invasion 97270With a name like “Micro-Fleet” and a price point under $15, there weren’t many things that these sets could have been other than exactly what they are. Even so, it sure is gratifying to be correct, right?

Of the three initial Halo Mega Bloks Micro-Fleet sets, my favorite one (and the likely best seller) is definitely the Halo Mega Bloks 97270 Micro-Fleet Mantis Invasion.

The Halo Mega Bloks Mantis Invasion set included a micro-scale UNSC Mantis, a terrain base plate, a micro-scale Covenant Shade Turret, a silver Spartan Mark VI, and the all-new Incineration Cannon. The Forerunner Incineration Cannon is among the last major weapons needed to complete the Halo video games armory, so its inclusion here is a big selling point for the Mantis Invasion Micro-Fleet set!

The whole set comes packaged in a big silver UNSC Spartan Mark VI Helmet, which I’m not entirely sold on, but the helmets are probably the best (and cheapest) counterpart Halo has to the huge number of planets in the LEGO Star Wars universe.

Here’s the Micro Fleet Halo Mega Bloks fan that was made for casual fans and kids. Packaged in a Master Chief helmet, the Warthog Attack Micro Fleet set includes a micro-scale green UNSC Warthog, a Mega Bloks Master Chief figure with UNSC Railgun, a terrain base plate and a Forerunner outpost.

This set would be a super-easy pass for me if MEGA Brands hadn’t decided upon a Rocket Launcher Warthog, which I am helpless against. A little 3″ Rockethog is just too cute, and there’s no way I can pass on it.

Finally, we’ve got the Halo Mega Bloks Hornet Assault Micro-Fleet 97224 set. The red Spartan helmet this set comes packaged in is certainly the most eye-grabbing, and MEGA Brands sold me on this set instantly with the transparent flight stand for the UNSC Hornet included in the set. The red Spartan Mark VI figure with DMR is a little “meh”, but the micro-scale UNSC Hornet and Covenant Watchtower included with this set look outstanding.

Okay, Halo Mega Bloks fans! Now that you’ve seen the winter 2014 Halo Mega Bloks Micro-Fleet sets, what do you think of the latest attempt at creating miniature Halo toys? Will any of these Halo Micro-Fleet sets be adorning your home, or is this another line of Halo minis destined to end up in the clearance bins alongside Halo Micro Ops, Jada Halo and the Halo Universe die-cast toys?

  1. Hopefully the weapons released with these sets are painted in the game accurate deco, if not throwing in new weapons like the Incineration Cannon, Concussion Rifle, Halo Reach/Halo 4 Fuel Rod or new mini-figs like Halo Reach Sangheili Field Marshal or Halo 4 Sangheili Ranger would be awesome and worth the purchase.

  2. These sets will go great to fit inside my mammoth and the include figures and structures will certainly do great in any battle scene.

  3. Actually- even the baseplates are interesting – it’s not something we see very often from MB. I also like to covie watchtower

  4. this is going to be quite similar to the mega bloks pirate skull package things where the whole set fits inside the head thing and the base plate forms the back of the head.

  5. I am definitely getting the mantis and the hornet, but I’ll have to pass up the Warthog one. I love the baby Warthog itself, but I have like 4 regular green ones, and the master chief figure? I already have enough green Mark VI Spartans (especially after the Warthog resistance set).

  6. Too bad they all come with the same figure (albeit colored differently). A bit more variety would have been nice. I’d like to see them do a proper-sized Covenant Watchtower. I think the only time it’s been released was in a Red vs Blue set.

    • Actually, it was before, in the UNSC Hornet Attack set. IT was released Fall 2010. It’s one of my favorites. I’m lucky to have it. 🙂

  7. I am sold on these. I wanna army build the lot, but I want to see MEGA making some Covenant-based Micro-Fleet sets in future.

  8. The only figure there that I would buy the set for would be the Silver Mark VI With the Incineration Cannon.

  9. I love the idea but I agree with Ash Talon they need to choose a wider variety of figures + paint deco on the weapons would be nice.

    The green helmet looks best.

  10. Was stoked to find these at toys r us. I can wait for the other two to go on sale but I had to have the mantis immediately. It’s an awesome and fun build. And the helmet is actually much better quality then I expected. I will say BE CAREFUL removing it from the package. It’s tied in with cord to the hinge that connects the pieces of the helmet. Which is unfortunately very fragile and thin. Also (this was to be expected) there isn’t much in the way of poseability for the mantis. But what it does have is pretty cool. Maybe I just need to get creative. All told, helmet, minifig, and builds, well worth it. Gonna look awesome with my normal size mantis.
