Though we’re less than two months away from the start of 2014, MEGA Brands has done a pretty amazing job this year of keeping all details (even the set names!) of their upcoming slate of Halo Mega Bloks 2014 sets top-secret. But with 2014 just around the corner and new sets due on shelves in less than two months, even the most classified information can’t be kept hidden forever. Thus, this weekend we got our first glance at a quartet of 2014 Halo Mega Bloks sets, including an all-new UNSC Cyclops and Covenant Ghost…

Because the factories where MEGA Brands produces their Mega Bloks Halo sets are located in Asia, stores in those countries oftentimes get new Halo Mega Bloks sets 6-8 weeks before the United States. As such, in order to be on U.S. store shelves in January 2014, the earliest 2014 Halo Mega Bloks sets have already begun to trickle out to stores overseas!

We’ll still have to wait a while to get our hands on these sets, but here’s a few upcoming Halo Mega Bloks 2014 sets we have to look forward to (but not the UNSC Weapons Pack II, which I’ll be covering in a second article a bit later today)…

Spartan IV Battle Pack: As seen above, the Halo Mega Bloks Spartan IV Battle Pack will continue the trend of half UNSC/half Covenant Battle Packs. This particular set is going to be hot, though–it contains an all-new Imperial Grunt, an all-new Halo 4 Scout Spartan (red), a repack of the popular Covenant Storm Jackal (previously only available in the ONI REAP-X VTOL 97102 set), and finally a translucent blue Recruit Spartan.

The red Spartan Scout from Halo 4 utilizes a new mold, and looks infinitely better than the prior attempts at the Spartan Scout armor permutation by MEGA Brands. I have a hunch that the factory mistook the Active Camo UNSC Spartan Recruit on the packaging for being a clear blue (he does look a little blue on the package) and produced the first batch in translucent blue plastic instead of clear. We could very likely be seeing an error first release of this set, similar to last year’s UNSC Weapons Pack I release with the all-black UNSC Marine.

2014 Halo Mega Bloks Covenant Ghost: The Covenant Ghost actually made my list of the Top 10 Vehicles that needed to be redone, so I’m thrilled to see a new and improved Mega Bloks Halo Ghost coming in 2014. This version of the Ghost will (obiously) share elements with the previous Ghost releases, but just from the small cardback photo of the Ghost you can already see that it is a modified (and better-looking) Covenant Ghost than previous builds.

The Covenant Ghost 2014 edition looks like it will include a (Covert Ops?) Black Recruit Spartan with a Spartan Laser and a White Elite Zealot with Energy Sword.

Halo Mega Bloks Flamethrower (?) Cyclops 97214: Finally, we have a fifth entry in the armada of Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Cyclops units! This time the Mega Bloks Halo Cyclops is painted black and gold, with what I think is a sort of flamethrower (or welding torch?) attached to its arm. We won’t know exactly what the function of this 2014 Cyclops Mega Bloks set is until we get the official name for it. For the moment, all we know is that its official designation is Halo Mega Bloks 97214. The set will include a new UNSC Marine Infantry figure from Halo 4 with new Halo Reach Shotgun.
