I foresaw a long and grueling drought of new information and fresh things to talk about months ago, and that’s why I held back on posting some of the news and photos from what I saw at the MEGA Brands booth at the New York Toy Fair 2014 back in February! Seeing as how it feels like eternity since I’ve had anything interesting to post about, I figure that now is as good a time as any to post my photos and impressions of the Halo Mega Bloks Alpha Series (AKA Halo Mega Bloks Series 10) figures…
Why has MEGA Brands chosen now to change the numbering of the series? Well, to those paying close attention, you can probably already guess: it’s because of the new-and-improved articulations scheme on the Mega Bloks Halo figures coming in Summer 2014, when all Mega Bloks Spartans figures will become super-articulated and start touting interchangeable armor pieces.
- UNSC Marine
- Camo/White Gungnir Spartan
- Green Scout Spartan
- Blue Enforcer Spartan
- Blue Storm Grunt
- Yellow Spartan Mark VI
- Crimson Brute Major
- Partially Active Camo Brute Stalker
Halo Mega Bloks Series 10/Alpha Series 1 will be the second series to feature a partially Active Camo figure, this time being the Phasing Brute Stalker figure. This is a weird aesthetic, but sort of fun.
I’m actually more excited for a cheap army-builder Brute Major figure (with Brute Spiker) myself, personally.
The series is otherwise a bit plain, in my opinion. Oh, I love that generic Blue Storm Grunts and UNSC Marines are included in Halo Mega Bloks Series Alpha 1, but there’s nothing in this set that really makes my jaw drop and causes me to reach for my wallet (though I will hunt down a bunch of those yellow/gold Mark VI Spartans).
As has become customary, there will be three “Mystery” Clear Active Camo (AKA Gummi Bear) figures in Halo Mega Bloks Alpha Series 1 (Series 10)–a clear Black ODST (with UNSC SMG), a clear Red Recruit Spartan (with Covenant Energy Sword) and a Purple Translucent Storm Jackal figure (with Covenant Plasma Pistol).
I don’t collect all of the translucent Active Camo Halo Mega Bloks figures myself, but I think that clear purple Storm Jackal figure is pretty awesome. I’ll have to track that one down myself later this year.
I’ll post an update once the Mega Bloks Halo Alpha Series hits stores, and you can ‘Like’ Halo Toy News on Facebook to have news and photos sent straight to your Newsfeed.
What do you think of the Halo Mega Bloks Alpha Series 97433, Halo fans? Are the new-and-improved Halo Mega Bloks figures what you’ve been waiting for, or are you less-than-impressed by what MEGA Brands has cooked up for Summer 2014?
i’m supppperrrr pumped for these, thanks for posting this!
Is there a Sarah Palmer figure in there? In photos 2, 3, 5, 6, & 7, there is a white spartan scout with customisations a like Sarah Palmer. Just wondering.
Sarah Palmer is in a new Combat Unit for the summer. Her figure happened to get set up next to the Alpha Series, but she’s not part of it.
I have a scout(grey) that looks like sarah palmer aka awesome comander
I’m still pissed at her for deliberately trying to murder Halsey
yeah
Woah, a new combat unit? Have you seen it at the toy fair? If you have is there a preview of it? If not, please tell me what the combat unit contains!
A Brute Captain, a AC Brute Minor, Spartan Palmer and Spartan Davis. It is named “Spartan Assault Combat Unit”
New drop pods in the background!! omigawd can’t wait!
Cool, can’t wait. Because I got to collect them all!!.
“AKA Gummi Bear” Lol, my girlfriend says their Jolly Ranchers with guns, definitely want the Brute Captain figure though, great army building figs too
Hey, Dabid, can you please post all of the sets which are getting re-released this year? Thanks!
As far as I know, only the Quad Walker and the UNSC Weapons Pack are getting reissued later in the year.
The Micro-Fleet sets are also included in that list, but that’s it. 😉
Thanks so much Dabid and Cizlin!
And the infinity bay armour set! (I’m pretty sure)
Sadly not, bud. That won’t be rereleased. Here’s what Tim had to say on the matter: “The three micro-fleet sets, the Quad Walker and Marine Armory Pack will all be re-released with the same figures – but updated articulation/interchangeable armour. So if you haven’t picked those sets up, you could choose to wait until Fall.
The Spartan IV Battle Pack will be re-released with two new UNSC figures – a Gungnir and an AC Mark VI, both with the new articulation and armour style.
All other Spring sets will remain just that – Spring sets. Including the 4 current ODST Drop Pods, Offworld Cyclops, blind bags, Ghost, and even the Infinity Armour Bay (though that set would make sense with interchangeable armour, wouldn’t it?) “
Hey, Dabid, did you know you still haven’t finished the reviews of the tyne pelican gunship and hornet vs vampire sets? Just letting you know.
How much is a blind bag now and what these ones will be?
Either $2.99 or $3.99.
Yeah its $2.99 now but what will the new ones cost?
$2.99.
I’m pretty dang sure I saw a grey orbital with red visor and incineration cannon somewhere.
Im fucking stoked that they move like the call of duty figures and have interchangeable armor! Now I feel complete lol
