If there’s one faction that’s been underrepresented in the Halo Mega Bloks line, it’s the Flood. Despite being the true antagonist in the entire first Halo trilogy of video games, the Flood have been relegated to only appearing in a handful of Halo Mega Bloks sets over the years. And while they will again only be majorly featured in one Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2014 set, it’s a Flood-centric set like never before! Coming in July/August 2014–Mega Bloks Halo Flood Invasion 97430!
If you have ever wanted to army-build your own horde of Halo Flood zombies and monsters, then MEGA Brands has something cooked up for you this summer that is going to make you positively squeal. I feel pretty bad for the UNSC Marines figures that come with the Halo Mega Bloks 97430 set, because they are about to face hopeless odds and be completely slaughtered and absorbed by a Mega Bloks Flood Invasion like none before!
The biggest new addition in this set is obviously the all-new Halo Mega Bloks Flood Tank form figure! This is a figure that no toy company has ever produced before, and I love the Man-Thing-like monster.
It’s unfortunately a little unclear as to exactly what the figure contents of this set are. I didn’t notice until I got home and looked at all my photos, but the box seems to indicate more is included with this set than the actual display set at New York Toy Fair 2014 contained.
Halo Mega Bloks 97430 Flood Invasion should include, at a minimum: (1) Flood Tank Form Action Figure, (2) Flood Carrier Form Figures [Different Colors], (1) Flood Combat Form Active Camo Figure, (1) Flood Elite Combat Form Figure, (2) UNSC Marines and (9) Flood Infection Form Figures. The box shows a second Halo Mega Bloks Flood Tank Form figure, but that wasn’t shown with the set on display, so it may or may not actually come with the set (I sure hope it does, though).
The only two figures that will feature the new “Super-Poseable” bodies in this set are the UNSC Marines figures, although that’s really fine–the Flood shouldn’t exactly be busting out any ninja attacks or anything like that anyway. The set will also include the first-ever Active Camo Flood figure released by MEGA Brands or any other company.
In addition to the veritable armada Flood creatures included with the Flood Invasion Halo Mega Bloks set, you also get the ridiculously cool Flood-Infected Covenant Ghost vehicle! This is a very cool and clever idea, and I believe the very first time we’ve ever seen a Flood-Infected Halo vehicle made by any toy company!
The building structure included with the Halo Flood Invasion Mega Bloks set is basically just some pillars and catwalks. It’s not much of a building to speak of, but it does give you a fun backdrop for the UNSC Soldiers to defend with their turrets (and for the Flood figures to jump off of!).
On the surface this set seems a bit expensive, as it’s going to retail for $39.99 for just 286 pieces. Here’s the thing, though–you’re (probably) not buying this set for the modest building playset that comes with the 97430 Halo Mega Bloks Flood Invasion set. No, you’re buying this set for the largest amount of Halo Mega Bloks Flood figures ever assembled in one place!
The 2014 Halo Mega Bloks Flood Invasion 97430 set is scheduled to be released in July/August 2014 as part of the Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2014 sets wave. I’ll post a full review and photos when I get my copy of the set this summer, and you can ‘Like’ Halo Toy News on Facebook to have news and updates sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed.
Not a big thing but you could have mentioned that the marines are actually based on the Halo 2 design which I find awesome
Halo 2 & Halo 3* design. The current H3 marines in mega bloks form actually have Halo wars helmets or Halo combat evolved helmets
This is probably my favourite set out of the new line simply because there is so much packed into it and to be honest I really wouldn’t mind paying about $40 for this for that reason.
Agreed, the Flood is an under represented faction as well as the Sentinels. This is an excellent set just like its predecessor “Halo Anniversary: Floodgate”. And with the Tank Form created theirs only 7 more forms to go.
Yes! The sentinels definitely deserve more love. It would have been cool if this very set came with a sentinel or two, considering they fought the flood heavily in the lore.
What if they made a sentinel set like they did with this new set
Definitely, it would have to be more Halo Wars centered like this set was Halo 3 centered. It could contain Protector Sentinel, Aggressor Sentinel, Super Sentinel, and maybe an unnamed Monitor against one or two marines around a small forerunner structure maybe a sentinel plant/factory.
True: Gravemind, Proto-Gravemind, Stalker form, Ranged form, Brute combat form, Grunt combat form and jackal combat form, though, the last two might not necessarily be made into figures as they appear only in halo wars and are extremely, extremely rare.
Actually, on the note of that, there are actually eleven forms, the seven I stated earlier, and; the Water Form (Halo 2), Flood Swarms (Halo Wars), Bomber forms (Halo Wars) and Thrasher Forms (Also Halo Wars)
Or twelve forms if you really want to scrape the bottom of the barrel, which would include the keymind, which is the term for an entire planet that has become one with the flood. Though that becoming a set would be next to impossible as a visual rendering has not been created, and, how the hell would you make a set of an entire freakin’ planet?!?!?!?!?!?!? Yeah, possibly a signature series, but I think the flood signature series would be the gravemind if not anything else.
Or, to go even further yet again, the juggernaut form tallies it up to thirteen, and yes, I know what you are thinking, “The Juggernaut was cut! They can’t make a figure!” Well, the juggernaut does actually exist! Bungie confirmed so and their is a model for the Juggernaut, so, in all reality, it could be made a figure!
So, all in all, there are precisely seventeen different forms of flood known to human! Of course there is more, just not yet known by humans. And if you do not believe me about the Juggernaut, look it up on Halo Nation (The good halo wiki).
Exactly, but you forgot one more. Spartan Combat Form from Halo 4.
Dang! I knew I forgot something! So, that would bring the tally up again to eighteen, of which fourteen need to be made into figures! *phew* Too much commenting for me for a while now!
I don’t care much for the flood but I am stoked for this set! You could easily buy two to four and make a room for a set-piece with the walls (plus, the walls are the same color and theme as the Flood Gate set, expanding that industrial setting material!). Most of all though I’m so excited that we finally get a non-white marine in something other than a giant signature-size set. It’s only the third one Mega has ever done, and he’s coming with the new articulation to boot!
Brad from Mega Bloks stated that the set comes with 2 Tanks. They must have just not put the 2nd one in the little window for figures. I think there’s quite a bit packed into this set and think it’s one of the best sets they revealed at Toy Fair. I’d like to see the Flood expanded a bit in future games. I love the idea of them infecting vehicles and maybe even structures. They, of all the forces in the Halo universe, should allow for weird mutations and a wide variety of enemies to fight. Imagine fighting a Wraith which has sprouted legs and staggers about. Or interior walls in buildings sprout tentacles which reach out and hit you as you walk by. Could be really cool.
Are the marines green or silver in this set?
The figures should match the packaging when they’re final, so the Marines should be green when they’re complete.
Okay, thank you Dabid!
oi… every time I want to leave halo megabloks behind they keep pulling me in, I was going to save up for an Xbox but I guess not… but wow new flood forms, finally but with new flood will we ever get that classic halo 1 scene of sgt. Johnson, Keyes, Mendez in the floods awakening?
well dont leave it
omg
i will probably buy this and sell the flood figures on eBay. i will definitely keep the ghost if i can take the infected piece off, i just don’t have any flood and the first time i saw them in Halo 2 (Yes, i have not played much of Halo CE or Halo Wars) i almost ran out of the room screaming bloody murder cause those creatures are REVOLTING!!!!!!
Just um.., give me the Flood.
I think the piece attached to the ghost does come off it looks like its probably connected to a piece underneath the fin, perhaps it attaches in a similar way to the flood drop pod and the pieces which were attached to the top of that
I CANT WAIT
Definatly getting this right when it comes out!
