The Summer/Fall 2014 Halo Mega Bloks wave is absolutely filled with top-tier characters and vehicles that fans have been asking for for years, making it one of the best waves of Halo Mega Bloks ever released. And one such set that features an all-new vehicle, long-requested characters and a totally new species of characters in Mega Bloks figure form for the first time is actually a store exclusive! We were told when the set was unveiled last month it’d hit stores in August 2014–and sure enough, here it is! The Halo Mega Bloks Hierarch’s Shadow Convoy 97521 set has now appeared at retail!
I’d like to say that I heard a hot tip that the new Mega Bloks Halo Shadow Convoy set had been spotted at retail and then I went racing out to check, but that’s just not what happened. In actuality, I was wandering around a local Toys R Us store for no reason at all (other than to kill time) when I ran smack dab into a freshly-stocked shelf full of the new Mega Bloks 97521 Hierarch’s Shadow Convoy Halo Anniversary Collection set!
The Covenant Shadow is one of the last major vehicles from the original Halo video games trilogy that needed the Halo Mega Bloks treatment, and is also one of the few Covenant sets being released in 2014. Thanks, MEGA Brands (and Toys R Us, for picking up this set as an exclusive)!
You get a metric ton of Mega Bloks Halo figures with this set, with a grand total of ten Halo Mega Bloks action figures included! There aren’t that many Halo Mega Bloks sets that come with double-digits of figures, so this set is pretty special.
In total, you get three Elite Honor Guard figures, two Jackals, the Arbiter, two UNSC Marines (with the new super-poseable articulation scheme), the Prophet of Truth and Sergeant Johnson.
It’s a shame that he couldn’t be smoking a cigar, but that’s obviously not something MEGA Brands can (or should) be advocating in a toy line aimed at children. With his mouth firmly closed, Sergeant Johnson wouldn’t be able to smoke a cigar anyway!
The Halo Mega Bloks Hierarch’s Shadow Convoy set is priced at $59.99 in Toys R Us, which is a totally fair and acceptable price for an all-new set that comes absolutely crammed with Halo Mega Bloks figures. Ordinarily I might wait for a sale before picking up a Mega Bloks Halo set from Toys R Us, but in this instance I didn’t mind forking over full price and getting my Sergeant Johnson and Prophet figures ASAP. If you absolutely can’t wait for this set or just want certain figures from it, complete and split-up Halo Mega Bloks Shadow Convoy sets have already shown up online as well.
Now that you know it’s out there in the wild, will you be picking up the hottest 2014 Halo Mega Bloks exclusive set (that doesn’t have the word “Scarab” in the name), Halo collectors? Are you planning to wait for a sale, or does this Halo 2 Shadow Convoy set warrant regular price in your eyes?
That’s not a normal Elite…. that’s the Arbiter…
It’s actually $54.99, you can see the price tag in the picture 😛
Pretty sweet set, but all this makes me wonder if; #1 The Arbiter is taller than your normal elite, and #2, if all these halo 1, 2, and 3 sets are hinting at a classic chief getting the new super-pose-able treatment?
Remind me if im wrong, but didnt the pictures of the scarab show the halo 4 chief? Dont get me wrong, I strongly wish that chief still had his old armor, but if the scarab comes with the halo 4 chief, that would make a classic chief unlikely this fall.
The scarab no longer comes with the cheif, prophet of regret or brute honor guards, instead it will have sniper jackals (like the original), a holographic prophet, an elite commando and an ascetic elite.
YES, this set is definitely wort full price. So many great figures, and an awesome shadow. Yes, yes, and yes.
I just picked it up!, and its great but i broke truth’s golden throne thing on the back of his floating chair trying to put it on. I glued it and its fine but you might want to be a little careful with how you peg it in.
P.S. The johnson figure is awesome!!!
