In the glory days of the Halo Mega Bloks line, it seemed like every time you turned around an unannounced store exclusive Halo Mega Bloks set was rearing its head somewhere in the world. Those days are sadly behind us, and the number of 2014 Halo Mega Bloks exclusives pales in comparison to what we’ve had in past years. But while we may not get a lot of Mega Bloks Halo 2014 exclusive sets, the ones we do get may make up in quality what they lack in quantity! Just revealed this week at the RTX 2014 event this week–the Halo Mega Bloks Hierarch’s Shadow Convoy 97521… with Halo Mega Bloks Sergeant Johnson figure!

I really thought that the Halo Mega Bloks sets that I saw at New York Toy Fair 2014 were going to be it for the year for Mega Bloks Halo collectors to pick up. Silly me–I gave up on unannounced store exclusives way too early! Perhaps one of the most-anticipated Mega Bloks Halo exclusive sets ever is coming out this summer to  commemorate this year’s launch of the XBox 360 Halo Master Chief collection video game: the 97521 Hierach’s Shadow Convoy Halo Mega Bloks set!

Halo 2 Covenant Shadow Vehicle Art

The Covenant Shadow is one of the most recognizable vehicles from the Halo video games to have not yet been replicated in Mega Bloks form. I think it’s likely that MEGA Brands decided to make a Halo Mega Bloks Shadow before the decision was made to change Halo 2: Anniversary Edition into the Halo: The Master Chief collection anthology game that we’re actually getting this fall.

Not only is this an all-new and highly anticipated vehicle that’s never been released before by any company, but it includes a whopping eight figures–several of which ones that Halo collectors have been crying out to MEGA Brands for for years!

MEGA Brands is certainly going out of its way this year to give us some of the most-requested Halo video game characters as Halo Mega Bloks figures in 2014–we’ve got official figures of The Didact, Cortana, Emile, Jun, Carter, Sarah Palmer, Sgt. Johnson, the Prophet of Truth, the Prophet of Regret and more all scheduled to hit stores in the next few months! Way to go, MEGA Brands!

The Halo Mega Bloks 97521 set will include 485 pieces. Ordinarily a set of this size might retail for $44.99-$49.99, but as the Mega Bloks Halo Hierarch’s Shadow Convoy set is a Toys R Us exclusive, it may retail for anywhere from $54.99-$69.99. We’ll just have to wait and see how much Toys R Us is charging for this set when it actually arrives in stores later this summer.

Mega Bloks Halo 2 Anniversary Collection Hierarch's Shadow Convoy SetAnother Halo 2 Anniversary Collection Mega Bloks set–Halo Mega Bloks 97519–is expected to be revealed at the second day of the Rooster Teeth RTX 2014 event tomorrow.   2. This is my most desired set other than the Scarab this year. SO stoked to finally be getting Johnson!!!! And I think the set comes with 3 honor guards, not 1. Which would put the figure count at 10.

    • nah its only got one honour guard which is pretty disapointing also should have given the jackals their gauntlets

  3. If I work overtime, cut back on food, etc. I might be able to get close enough for Toys R’ Us’s asking price by next month.

  6. In Halo 2 I always tried to blow all 4 of these up before they reached the end of the tunnel. Can’t wait to get this.

  7. I loved to Warthog Surf and get on the front one, taking out the turret and using it to kill the rest of the Shadows. 10 Figs. 1 Vehicle. Mega said it would be about $50-$55, which is fair considering we get 10 rare figures. Hey, maybe in Alpha Series 2 (Beta Series?) we’ll get a blind-bagged Regret!

    • That’s what Mega said?! $50 – $55? HA! That means nothing when it’s a Toys R Us exclusive. Remember the Flood Hunter Falcon set 97173? That was supposed to be $50 – $55. (I got mine for $50) But within two weeks TRS relisted it for $71.99 and the price hasn’t changed! It’s their exclusive. Their price is insanely high on the toys EVERYONE carries. On their exclusive, they will put the price where they want it! I’m not saying that it definitely won’t be in that price range. But TRS has a bad history of being overpriced. So let’s see.

  8. When you said there’s 8 figs there’s actually 10 figs: 2 Jackals, 3 Honor guards (That’s right 3!), Arbiter (Halo 2’s Thel vadam), Prophet of truth, 2 UNSC marines and Sergeant Johnson

  9. Anyone else noticed that on the collect them all portion, there’s one set scribbled out in white? Wonder what it could be…..

  10. Wait a minute…the jackals in the picture are completely different than the actual jackal in the box, just look at the little window and the jackal is the halo 4 version, not the halo 2

    • Mega blogger ever heard of a preliminary? These are at the RTX convention on display as a prototype which will be released as a real set in August, they probably just grabbed a jackal from the nearest box n threw him in the display box, same with the arbiter as the one on display is Ripa Moramee not Thel Vadam. They probably displayed normal halo wars brutes in the new halo 2 Battlepack which should contain 2 UNSC marines, 2 Brute Captains (halo 2 captains with the red flag piece) and Tartarus (with a gold and silver gravity hammer)

  11. I’m honestly not digging those marines mainly due to the color. I would get this set just for the shadow itself and the other figs.

  14. This is exactly why I left Lego for Mega Bloks, even if they made this set just to shut fans like me up they at least listened and said “ok we hear what you want and were gonna give it to ya now sit in the corner and shut up”. I did what they said.

  19. wow finally the shadow, quite an impressive feat and the figures!, who doesn’t want the arbiter and more jackals, I wonder if they could put a cigar in Johnson’s mouth? my only complaint is that its exclusive as I don’t have a TRU near me and 70-50 is way too much, but I have seen TRU sets at Wal-Mart for half the price just use site-to-store. maybe 35.00-40.00 at Wal-Mart in a few months hmm.. also mega-bloks if you want to make more money sell these sets at all stores not exclusives!!
