Last week I picked up the Halo Mega Bloks Versus Snowbound Highbase, and over the weekend I finally had time to put the set together! Priced at just $34.99, I thought that the Snowbound Highbase Mega Bloks set might be a pretty quick build. I was totally wrong! Just look at that massive pile of 400+ pieces above! It took me about three hours to build this set, far more than I was expecting. Read on to see the Halo Mega Bloks Snowbound Highbase coming together, one step at a time… We’ll start the build photos with a Halo vehicle that I’ve been desiring for many years…
It’s the first Arctic Mongoose ever released by any toy company! This is like the big prize in the Cracker Jacks box, in my opinion, whereas the Highbase is the tasty snacks surrounding it.
This looks like a simple enough start to the foundations of the Snowbound Highbase…
…but it gets very big very fast…
…and even bigger still!
We add on and on to the foundation of the Highbase, being careful not to apply too much pressure and fracture the early structure of the set…
…and then it’s time to build the recognizable, iconic spires of the Snowbound Highbase.
Of course, we need to build some connections to hold those beautiful blue pieces onto the Highbase. These actually require more pieces and assembly than I was expecting.
The spires from the Covenant Highbase are HUGE!!! I don’t think they’re exactly made to scale, but they are undeniably impressive regardless.
A-HA! Now I see how this set is coming together.
Again, there’s a ton of pieces that make up these ramps. They’re not the simplistic flat plate builds you might be expecting. The ramps are actually very complex (for what they are).
There it is, in all its glory! The gigantic Halo Mega Bloks Versus Snowbound Highbase! But wait… isn’t that a ramp missing on the right-hand side? And what about the back? That’s curious, isn’t it…? Tune in later this week, when I’ll discuss what’s absent (or not so absent) from this set in my full review, and in which I’ll post a ton more completed photos and give (or deny!) the Mega Bloks Snowbound Highbase a recommendation!
I can’t get those blue pieces to connect to the holders, the holes are too small.
