I’d been hunting locally for new Halo Mega Bloks sets to no avail, but this week I lucked out when the Summer 2014 Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Broadsword 97380 was briefly available online for the sale price of $53 shipped. It sold out in a couple hours, but mine was already locked in. And while it’ll take me a few days to put together a quality review and photos, here’s some unboxing photos and impressions of the Halo Mega Bloks Broadsword set to tide everyone over…
Thankfully, Amazon had just selected a shipping box that was needlessly huge and deep enough to fit four Halo 4 Mega Bloks Broadsword sets inside of it. And while the shipping box itself came beaten to Hell, the UNSC Broadsword Mega Bloks set itself was pristine inside and waiting for me to tear into it.
The packaging for the Halo Mega Bloks 97380 set looks fantastic, and is a real standout compared to older Halo Mega Bloks boxes. The box prominently displays graphics of the included Mega Bloks Didact, Cortana and Master Chief figures both in the sidebar on the left side of the box and below the graphics of the Broadsword itself.
I love the way that the Didact Mega Bloks figure is looming so largely on the bottom right corner of the box, making his intimidating larger size unmissable.
It’s sort of strange that only the Master Chief’s name has a translation in different languages. I can understand the name “Cortana” being universal, but it’s weird to think that none of the other languages have a word for “Didact”…
The Mega Bloks Halo UNSC Broadsword set itself contains a whopping 17 bags of parts once you separate all of the bags out of the box! That’s a humongous number of bags for a set that only retails for $59.99!
I don’t know if the numbered bags were for the internal factory use or what, but they’re confusing and useless for the final consumer. Oh well!
I’ve now opened every bag of parts, and the construction of the Halo Mega Bloks Broadsword 97380 can begin. Be sure to watch the Halo Toy News Facebook Page for photos and updates as I build and photograph the UNSC Broadsword set for its full review…
To Be Continued…
Wow! Can’t wait for part 2! Do you know where I can pick up some of the new sets? I managed to pick up a couple alpha series packs, but I payed more than I should have. š
Nice bro, I’m trying 2 find the set with Emile. Do u know anywhere I can find it, or would u be interested in negotiating a price 4 urs? Any reply is appreciated š
There’s one thing that keeps annoying me, and while looking at the flood set on the reverse of this box I see it again: they keep making those chocolate flood figures and infection forms.
I wouldn’t worry to much at the moment, The image is wrong in the first Place, The 2 Marines should be Green
Well, I fear that this is the real image, because on the official website if you check the figures section, you see that the marines are in fact grey.
At least they are green in the Shadow and in the new combat pack with Tartarus.
Yeah, I saw that after I posted that.
As much as green ones would be better, I wouldn’t mind 2 grey ones, And face it, No one is buying the Flood invasion for the marines.
Ya, they prob just added the marines so u could like actually have ppl 2 fight against each other if it’s ur first set or wutever. I’m defenently getting flood invasion, but I just want the tank forms and active camo flood guys
I have to really agree with you on that lol.
Ya if you go 2 the mega bloks page it says the marines included both have black armor. What u see isn’t exactly what it will look like when it is released
Just found this set on the mega bloks site, it looks like a 2 figure pack, which I think is nice. Do you think you could do a reveal post for it? http://halo.megabloks.com/en-us/toys/construction/containment-armory-97516
I got this set! It has pretty cool features. But I have a problem getting Master Chief into the cockpit of the Broadsword. But everything else is great.
Hey dabid cool review. I can’t wait to see the next part. And by the way I built a version of this in legos, is there any way I could show uou? It’s really cool.
Yup! Just post your photo up on the Halo Toy News Facebook Page, Iso!
