The missing set from McFarlane Toys Halo Micro Ops Series 1 has finally been released: the Halo Micro Ops High Ground Tower! This is the final set to be released as part of Halo Micro Ops Series 1. The High Ground Tower was not included in the initial shipments of the toy line at all, leaving many to speculate that the small boxed playset was being moved to Halo Micro Ops Series 2. This set was originally solicited to contain both the High Ground Tower and Missile Launcher, but the Missile Launcher has been moved to series 2.
This set is based upon the Halo 3 High Ground multiplayer map and can be combined with the previously-released High Ground Gate to create a larger and more immersive Halo High Ground environment! The Halo Micro Ops Series 1 High Ground Tower comes with two UNSC Spartan figures and a Covenant Ghost vehicle for them to patrol in. In addition, the set features some great-looking camouflage netting on the roof (yes, it’s removable) and a rotating turret. The multi-level interior and the staircase of the set look fantastic as well! Based on the photos, I think this may be the single best entry in McFarlane Halo Micro Ops Series 1.
In addition, though it’s not mentioned in the set description, the set also seems to include a previously unannounced bonus Master Chief figure and an Elite Zealot figure. I’ve no idea why McFarlane Toys hasn’t mentioned those before, but they’re very apparent on the packaging, so I presume they do come with the set as shown.
Halo Toy News reader Todd left a comment to let us know that the Missile Launcher has been split into its own set, and will be released as part of the 2013 Halo Micro Ops Series 2 assortment by McFarlane Toys. That set will also include the much-loved Rocket Warthog! Thanks, Todd! We previously reported this in the list of Halo Micro Ops Series 2 sets, but we haven’t seen photos of the set yet, so I forgot all about it!
I haven’t heard of anyone finding this set on a physical store shelf yet, but sightings started coming in earlier this week from online specialty stores, and the Micro Ops High Ground Tower is now available on Amazon for below retail price and with free shipping. It’s going to be hard to top a deal like that and there’s no telling what kind of availability this set will have at retail stores, so if you’re dying for this set, buying online seems like the way to go!
The Missile launcher has been delayed to series 2, and will be packaged with a Rocket Hog and a few other accessories to form a small box set. The tower set is supposed to include:
Tower
Ghost
Master Chief
Elite driver
Can’t wait until my Tower arrives! Set looks amazing.
