I’ve talked a fair bit about the Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2015 sets that were on display at the New York Toy Fair 2015 last week, but those weren’t all the new Halo collectibles that were on display at the event! Kotobukiya put out their 1/6th scale ARTFX Master Chief statue earlier this winter, but at the 2015 Toy Fair, they showed off their cheaper (and cooler!) 1/10 Master Chief ARTFX+ statue and alternate Spartan armor sets!
While I prefer my statues to be larger than 1/10th scale (8″ to 10″), the pricing and quality of the Kotobukiya ARTFX+ statues have won me over after the excellent releases in the line in the last year. And this fall, the ARTFX+ bug will spread once against to the Master Chief and the Halo Universe!
While only one Halo character has been announced for an ARTFX+ statue at this time (you can guess who), Kotobukiya has said additional characters are in the pipeline. I’d presume that means a Kotobukiya Agent Locke is on the way, but boy, wouldn’t an Arbiter be nice…?
And the 1/10 Master Chief statue has a unique feature never-before-seen in the ARTFX+ line: a base body with all of its armor removable! This means exactly what it sounds like: you can interchangeable armor to change the version of the Master Chief or make another Spartan completely!
There will be two separate Halo ARTFX+ Spartan Armor Sets available this fall: a Spartan MJOLNIR Mark V Armor Set from Halo: Combat Evolved and a blue MJOLNIR Spartan Mark VI armor set.
I understand what Kotobukiya is thinking here, but unless the armor packs are sold cheaply (and I doubt they will be), I don’t know how successful this new concept is going to be.
The Halo Kotobukiya ARTFX+ Master Chief statue and Spartan Armor Sets will be available for pre-order later this winter, and are scheduled for release in October 2015. The base Master Chief ARTFX+ statue is priced at $79.99, with the pricing for the armor sets unannounced at this time.
What do you think of the Kotobukiya Halo 4 Master Chief ARTFX+ statue and customizable armor sets, Halo collectors? Is this unique idea worth your dollars, or are you uninterested in paying $80 for a 9″ statue plus more for extra armor packs?
That’s just what I was thinking; if I wanted a Halo 4 and a CE version, I’d have to buy two Halo 4 statues and an armor pack rather than just two different statues. It’s a bit of a rip off to be honest, but I still think I might get at least one.
It’s especially annoying with all the other statues and Halo stuff inevitably coming out this autumn.
Why is it taking long to upload the rest of the other halo toys
What is it that you’re waiting to see, nijel? McFarlane toys only showed one new character (Locke), Square-Enix and Three A Toys showed nothing new, and I’ve covered the major Halo Mega Bloks sets for the summer already. Let me know what you want to see coverage of next and I’ll post what I have.
Hey dabid, are you going to cover the smaller Halo mega books sets such as the new gungoose and new armory packs?
I can… there’s not much to say about those packs, though.
I didnt mean to be rude. I kinda want to see the mcfarlane. The dark horse comic replicas. I have not had a good look at those
I’ll cover the Dark Horse ships within the next day or two. McFarlane… geez, that booth was such a spectacular disappointment to me, though, with only Agent Locke on display as a new character.
Well, you haves missed series Charlie, (AKA, series 11) and halofanforlife already has that covered, so yeah… Your behind… π jk
