In some pretty disappointing news, online retailers such as BigBadToyStore are now being informed that the Halo 4 Series 2 action figures by McFarlane Toys have been delayed until September 2013 from their original anticipated shipping date of January 2013.
Halo 4 Series 2 by McFarlane Toys is scheduled to include action figures of a new version of the Master Chief (with a handheld Cortana), an Elite Ranger, a Storm Jackal, Commander Thomas Lasky (from the Forward Unto Dawn), a Team Orange Spartan Scout, and a Team Purple Spartan C.I.O. This would be the first time ever that non-exclusive orange and purple Spartans would be released in a regular series of Halo figures, as well as the first non-Skirmisher Jackal figure released since 2008.
This delay is not an altogether unexpected development, as most McFarlane Halo collectors had noticed that we’ve yet to see even the earliest prototype from Halo 4 Series 2, despite the fact that the set was supposedly due out later this month. We actually learned the premilinary lineup for McFarlane Halo 4 Series 3 just a few weeks ago, but that series is presumably also delayed now until late 2013 (if it comes out at all).
The upside to this is that–as of now–the Halo 4 McFarlane Toys line has only been delayed (significantly) and not outright cancelled, as Halo Universe Series 1 was last year. When McFarlane Toys went several months without saying a word about the Halo 4 Series 2 lineup, many collectors started speculating that the Halo 4 toys line as a whole might be cancelled.
It is entirely possible that Halo 4 Series 2 could be ready and arrive at retail earlier than expected (at one time it was thought the McFarlane Promethean Knight wouldn’t be released until March 2013, who actually started to hit stores in late December 2012), but as of now the expectation is that the McFarlane Toys Halo 4 Series 2 figures will not hit shelves until fall 2013.
And so fades the great harvest of my betrayal. In other words this sucks. I really like the Halo 4 figures so far and was hoping we would eventually get a Didact figure and a Jul ‘Mdama figure.
This is so disappointing!!!!
This wouldn’t be so bad if REACH figures weren’t completely sold out
Is micro ops still coming out?
I’m trying to get confirmation on the future (or lack thereof) of Micro Ops before posting news on that. I’ll make a fresh post as soon as I hear something.
I feel bad for all the people who pre-ordered these figures.
Man, that really does suck that they won’t come out in another 7 months.
Darn.
Hate to be a bearer of bad news, but this could mean the line is at an end. Usually when an action figure company starts producing “gift packs” or “collector packs” that consist of mostly repacks and maybe one new figure, its a sign the end of the line is approaching. When i saw Halo 4 series 1 already moving in this direction, I started to suspect this was the case. Now that series 2 has been delayed to September (which is outrageously far) it seems to be screaming “this line is coming to a close” to me. Theres always the chance that im wrong (which i hope) but we will have to see….
Heres to hoping Mcfarlane continues to bring us the figure we know and love.
It seems hard to believe. I mean Halo must be Mcfarlane’s biggest money maker. I can’t imagine them cancelling the line due to lack of profitability.
Is this confirmed by Mcfarlane?
McFarlane Toys has never even confirmed officially for fans that there would be a Halo 4 Series 2 at all, to my knowledge. Their communication with customers has been very poor in the last year or so, and most news on dates and lineups comes from online retailers long before McFarlane Toys. I’ve never seen BBTS be wrong, so if they’re moving the date on Series 2 to September and removing pre-orders for the individual figures until they’re re-solicited, I have total faith in the accuracy of what they’re hearing from McFarlane.
Thanks but man i wish you were wrong lol
