With the extremely disappointing cancellation of the McFarlane Toys Halo Universe Series 1 action figures a couple month ago, Halo collectors were afraid that the announced Halo Legends Master Chief, Frederic-104, and Kelly-087 action figure three-pack was going to meet the same fate.
We had to wait disconcerting amount of time to hear any further news on the pack from McFarlane Toys, but it has now been confirmed on the official McFarlane Toys website that the Halo Legends 3-Pack will be released in January 2013 to get the Halo collecting year off to a good start!
The three Spartans are going to be released in a pretty bizarre-looking vertical box, with the figures positioned as if they’re falling out of the sky. The packaging logo will be a plain “Halo” logo encrusted upon it and not a “Halo 4” logo or “Halo Universe” logo on it.
Kelly-087 and Frederic-104 are two of the surviving Spartan-IIs created in Eric Nylund’s “Halo: The Fall of Reach” novel. The two Spartans are main characters in the Halo Expanded Universe of novels, and made their first visual appearance in the Halo Legends “The Package” cartoon. In the short film “The Package”, a small group of Spartans has to infiltrate a Covenant starship in order to retrieve a crucial “package” for the UNSC (which turns out to be the creator of the Spartan-IIs, Catherine Halsey).
Kelly and Frederic quickly rose in popularity, as Fred is the second-in-command of the Spartan-IIs (after the Master Chief) and Kelly is the fastest Spartan and one of the Master Chief’s best friends. Kelly will wear white EVA armor and include a shotgun, while Fred is in blue Mark V armor and includes the ever-popular Spartan Laser. The Halo Legends “The Package” 3-Pack of Master Chief, Frederic-104, and Kelly-087 is scheduled to be released in January 2013 by McFarlane Toys and should be available online and from all major retailers.
Nice! I really didn’t like Halo: Legends but these figures look pretty cool. Are these going to be in the 6 or 5 inch scale?
Probably Halo Reach / Halo 4 scale, although I was disappointed when they switched scales 🙁
