Just when you thought your wallets were safe, MEGA Brands is already preparing to unleash the next entries in their 2013 Mega Bloks Halo line–not one, but two different versions of the UNSC Cyclops mech!
We knew that MEGA Brands was going to be releasing a Halo Mega Bloks Cyclops as part of their 2013 Halo Mega Bloks lineup because of prototype photos released in December, but what we didn’t know was that the UNSC Cyclops was almost ready to march into battle!
Two UNSC Cyclops look to be releasing concurrently, with the more well-known green version of the Cyclops coming in the Halo Mega Bloks Jungle Strike Cyclops 97006 set. Both of these Halo Mega Bloks Cyclops sets have apparently already been released overseas, as these photos were originally posted on a Chinese retailer’s website.
The Jungle Strike Cyclops 97006 set looks like it will consist of a standard green UNSC Cyclops and a UNSC Marine figure with jungle deco. While the Cyclops doesn’t look to be anywhere near as articulated or well-armed as the Halo 4 Mega Bloks UNSC Mantis released earlier this month (and the Cyclops shouldn’t be), it definitely looks like it’s going to be a very cute and cost-effective little mech suit.
A couple things immediately struck me about the Marine: 1) His battle rifle has paint deco, which is normally reserved only for the Mega Bloks Halo Drop Pod sets and smaller weapon sets; and 2) his boots have extra paintwork on them to look as though they’re muddy (sort of like the snowy boots previously seen in the Snowbound Halo Mega Bloks sets).
There’s no official pricing information available yet for the Halo Mega Bloks 2013 Cyclops sets, but my best estimate would be that they’ll be priced around $12.99, the same as the Drop Pods and the small boxed sets (such as the Brute Chieftain Charge and the Halo 4 Mega Bloks UNSC Cryo Bay). You can find photos and discussion of the Desert Strike Cyclops 97007 over here.
Look for the Halo Mega Bloks Jungle Strike Cyclops 97006 to start arriving in America in March/April 2013.
And remember–you can like us on Facebook to have more Halo Mega Bloks news and articles beamed directly to your Facebook newsfeed!
Curious, how did you get a hold of it and is there photos f the box?
He doesn’t have it. The pictures were released by mega bloks.
I have now set aside a specific budget for Halo Mega Bloks. Probably get one for the Starcraft sets when they come out too. I love em though.
