Hot on the heels of the first pair of Square-Enix Halo 4 Play Arts Kai figures being put up for pre-order earlier this week (Halo 4 Master Chief and blue Spartan Soldier), Square-Enix surprised me at New York Comic-Con 2012 today with the North Americn reveal of the two figures comprising Play Arts Kai Halo 4 Series 2: a Spartan Soldier and female Spartan-IV Sara Palmer! These prototypes were previously shown during the Tokyo Game Show in Japan, but NYCC 2012 was their debut in the United States.
Both figures were shown in the unpainted prototype stage at the Square-Enix booth, so it’s unknown what color the Spartan Soldier will be (presumably red or blue, though). The inclusion of Sara Palmer is a major surprise, as that’s a character no company–not even McFarlane Toys–has announced for a Halo 4 figure yet! Sara will be the first female Halo figure released in the Halo Play Arts Kai line. [Sara Palmer will not be the first female Spartan action figure ever produced, however, as Spartan-III Kat and Spartan-II Alice have previously been produced by McFarlane Toys.]
The Halo 4 Play Arts Kai Series 2 Spartan Warrior and Sara figures are officially both currently TBA as far as release date and MSRP are concerned, but my best guess would be for them to be scheduled to be released in Q2 2013 with an MSRP of $64.95 each. We’ll post more news and updates on these figures as more information becomes available.
“Sara will be the first female Halo figure released in the Halo Play Arts Kai line.” – That’s not true, Play Arts Kai have also released Kat from Halo Reach. (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SQ81050). By the way, I really enjoy your site, keep up the good work.
You’re absolutely right! The sad part is: I own Kat! She’s the first Play Arts Kai Halo figure I ever bought. Oy!
