For over a year now, we’ve been waiting for the revived Kotobukiya Halo ARTFX+ statues line to officially arrive. And while I saw in-development pieces at Toy Fair in February and already pre-ordered all of the new Halo statues online this summer, at New York Comic-Con 2015 last week, I finally got to see the finished products face-to-(sculpted) face! And those of you who’ve been looking forward to these figures, rejoice–you will not be disappointed!
This Athlon Spartan statue was put up for order just a few weeks ago, and features a blue visor and grey and white Athlon armor, and looks absolutely kickass. I’m not sure why the placard at the show said that the price on this figure was “TBD”, because the price has already been confirmed at $79.99 (and I’ve already paid it). For an 8.5″ statue with removable armor and articulation, I think that price is totally fair, even if it is a bit more than McFarlane collectors are used to paying for their Halo collectibles.
Since Koto is investing in new tooling for this armor permutation, I think we can reasonably expect a repainted version of this statue later on down the line. But more importantly, this statue confirms that Kotobukiya has the Halo 5: Guardians license, so hopefully we’ll be seeing additional Halo 5 statues next year (Spartan Locke, anyone?).
Meanwhile, all of the other previously-solicited ARTFX+ Halo statues were also on display, including the Halo 4 Master Chief, the Master Chief in Mark V armor and the Spartan Mark VI/Spartan Mark V two-pack.
Because of the high price-tag on the set, I suspect that the Red vs. Blue pack will be the least-ordered and least-produced of these Kotobukiya Halo statues, and that’s a real shame–these two figures look insanely good in-person, and may end up being my favorite Halo figures released in 2015 period.

What figures–if any–have you pre-ordered from this line, collectors? And if the answer is “none”, what is it about this line that’s holding you back?
I ordered also all the new Kotobukiya figures. They look really great! My favorite ist the red spartan from the two pack 🙂
