2014 was a bad year to be a Halo collector. McFarlane put out their smallest number of Halo figures in a year yet, Kotobukiya hadn’t yet re-entered the fray, and Square-Enix only put out one new Halo Play Arts Kai figure. But thankfully, that figure ended up being absolutely outstanding. And while everyone couldn’t afford to bust out 100 bucks for him before, they may want to rethink that now: the Play Arts Kai Halo 2 Anniversary Master Chief is now on sale for 48% Off!
But that small surprise was nothing compared to the jaw-dropper that occurred yesterday, when the out-of-production figure dropped to nearly fifty percent off online! Apparently, patience really is a virtue! (Pity I don’t have any of it.)
Yes, as part of their annual “pre-holiday toy purge”, Amazon has plunged the price of this amazing high-end Halo 2 Play Arts Kai figure through the floor in an effort to clear warehouse space for newer holiday toys.
Considering the overall quality of this Master Chief action figure is excellent and he’s sold out at full price via most online retailers now, it’s more than a little stunning to see Amazon blowing this figure out for seemingly no reason.
In my opinion, this was the single best Halo action figure released in 2014, so seeing him go on clearance like this less than a year after his release is really quite shocking. But oh well–I guess Amazon’s loss is our gain! (I just wish I hadn’t paid the full price myself. Sigh.)
As of writing, the Play Arts Kai Master Chief Halo 2 Anniversary figure is available for about $51 shipped, which is an outright incredible price. At this price, I don’t expect the availability of this figure to last more than a few days, and I certainly don’t expect the price to go any lower. If you want the PAK Master Chief (for yourself or as a holiday gift to a lucky loved one), now is the time.
Who out there is planning to grab this Master Chief toy now that he’s available for a bargain? And those of you who already have him, what do you think of the figure?
It’s too bad his size is larger than the previous Play Arts Kai figures.
That’s the new scale Square-Enix has the license for. The Halo 5 Play Arts Kai Spartan Locke and Master Chief will also be this size.
Yeah, I noticed that too. I would have preferred to add figures to an existing collection, rather than start a new collection.
It is now at $48.98, how low can it go?!?!
$47.81
$46.86. It’s like watching the ball drop on New Years eve. 🙂
$45.84
And BOOM! It went from $44.57 to $84.49!
Surely that’s not the Halo 2 Anniversary Chief? The colours and the sword look more like the original from 10 years before!
