Mattel’s Halo toy line is off to a hot start with summer, but despite the buzz being generated by first-time characters like Spartan Linda, the Alpha Crawler and the Helioskrill Spartan, the best-selling figure in the brand is still the franchise himself: the Master Chief. The Mattel Halo Master Chief 6″ figure is available online now despite selling out fast in stores thus far–is it worth starting off your Halo Mattel collection with this worldwide icon?

Mattel Halo Series 1 took the Halo collecting world by storm last month, and while I’m behind on my reviews for the first wave of 6″ action figures, I’m hard at work completing the reviews for the entire wave. And tonight, I want to focus on a figure that can only be built by those who purchase all six figures in Halo Series 1: the unexpected Build-A-Figure of the wave, the Promethean Alpha Crawler! Building this Crawler will be expensive, but is it worth it…?
Continue Reading →Of all the figures in the Mattel Halo Series 1 6″ Figures lineup, the blue Air Assault Spartan was the one I had the least interest in. We’ve had plenty of blue Spartans and Air Assault armor figures over the years, right? Thankfully, I had to order the 6″ Spartan Air Assault figure with the rest of the set to get all the parts for the Promethean Alpha Crawler Build-A-Figure.
And I’m glad I did–this turns out to be one of my favorite generic Spartan action figures in years…
Continue Reading →Ever since the first sightings of the Mattel Halo Collector Series 1 6″ figures occurred last week, I’ve been stalking all the usual sites online like a madman, waiting for my chance to snag the figures for retail price.
And after what seems like eternity (but was actually only a week), finally they have arrived: all six figures Halo Series 1 Mattel figures are now available on Amazon with free shipping!
Continue Reading →With the other Mattel Halo toys beginning to pop up online over the course of the last two weeks, it was only a matter of time until the main event arrived–and that time is now! The Mattel Halo Series 1 6″ figures have now been spotted for the very first time on eBay with a major surprise: a Promethean Alpha Crawler Build-A-Figure can be built by buying the whole first wave!
Continue Reading →This past week has been among the most thrilling for Halo collectors in years, with both Mattel’s new and continuing Halo toy lines rolling out loads of news and fresh products. And the hits keep right on coming today, as Mattel has now posted a number of loose and packaged photos of the SDCC 2016 Exclusive Halo Helioskrill Spartan announced last week. And while I don’t have one in-hand to review just yet, I have to say that both the Spartan Helioskrill and his box look absolutely killer…
Continue Reading →With the new Mattel Halo toys finally beginning to deploy this month, I am officially more hyped about Halo collecting than I have been in a long, long time. And that means that I’m buying stuff I otherwise might not–stuff like the new Halo 12″ figures series! While I certainly have my reservations about this kid-oriented line, there was no way I could resist ordering the Halo 12″ Promethean Soldier figure. Am I happy with my purchase? The surprising answer is… yes!
Continue Reading →While the most prominent Halo toy released by Mattel today is the Collector Series Ghost Vehicle with Elite Officer 6″ figure, there’s 7 other toys released that are much bigger size-wise. In fact, one of the items released today is among the biggest Halo toys ever: the 21″ Mattel Halo Warthog with 12″ Master Chief is now up for order! And in case the Chief needs backup, there’s five other Halo 12″ figures too…
Continue Reading →2016 has been a rough year to be a Halo collector, with the long-running McFarlane Halo line canned and the Kotobukiya and ThreeA lines unceremoniously in their death throes. Even new master license-holder Mattel has been eerily quiet about Halo since announcing the acquisition of the license at New York Toy Fair 2016–but no longer!
The first Mattel Halo Spartan figure has been officially announced for release next month: the SDCC 2016 Exclusive Halo Helioskrill Spartan!
Continue Reading →The era… is over! The final wave of McFarlane Toys Halo figures started appearing at some retail stores such as Walgreens a few weeks ago, and now the series has finally reached the world’s largest internet retailer.
If you’ve been waiting to order your Halo 5 Series 2 figures from Amazon, now is your time: Spartan Buck and the rest of the last-ever McFarlane Halo figures are now in-stock!
Continue Reading →Believe me, the complaints have not fallen on deaf ears. I felt like Mattel dropped by the ball by showing off virtually no new Halo Mega Bloks sets at the 2016 Toy Fair, and I went and dropped the ball by basically not talking about the few things MEGA Brands did show at the event. But Mattel is making up for it today by releasing a bunch of unannounced Summer 2016 sets, and I’m making up for it by previewing them all as quickly as possible. And the last of the sets is also the biggest: the Halo Mega Bloks Covenant Wraith Ambush!
Continue Reading →I was truly blessed yesterday to have the opportunity to meet with the staff of McFarlane Toys (and someone else extra special) at the New York Toy Fair 2016 in Manhattan. Along with taking photos of the four McFarlane Halo 5: Guardians Series 2 figures that were on display on the floor of the convention center, I also got to have a wonderful conversation about the history of Halo toys at McFarlane Toys, including some facts and intel that I had never heard before. Read on, McFarlane Halo fans…
Continue Reading →Given that Spartan Vale is one of eight main characters in the runaway hit Halo 5: Guardians video game, you would think that Spartan Vale figures would be hitting from tons of companies. That’s not the case. In fact, not one bit of Olympia Vale merch was released by any company last year.
But to kick off 2016, Halo Mega Bloks is bringing us the first Vale toy ever with the Halo Heroes Spartan Vale figure! Vale’s selling for more than triple her MSRP online–is she worth it?
Continue Reading →While pretty much every Halo licensee out there managed to get at least one major new collectible out last fall to coincide with the release of the Halo 5: Guardians video game, Square-Enix lagged behind and just plain missed the boat. But this spring, SE’s products will finally hit: the Halo 5 Play Arts Kai Master Chief and Spartan Locke are now up for order! But while they’re plenty nice looking, they’re also a price not many will want to pay…
Continue Reading →For reasons that I cannot begin to understand (because McFarlane Toys works in unfathomable ways), McFarlane has been eerily silent about figure Halo 5: Guardians figures since the game was released two months ago. And while McFarlane Toys still hasn’t announced anything new, at least they’re finally acknowledging figures that went up for order months ago: the Halo 5 Series 2 figures (including Buck!) have now officially been revealed with hi-res images!
Continue Reading →What do you get for Christmas for the Halo collector in your life (or yourself) who already has everything produced for Halo that costs less than $600? Well, your options are limited in that case, but TriForce has a couple of new suggestions for you–and they’re two of the coolest Halo collectibles that I’ve ever seen! Straight out of the Halo 5: Guardians video game, the Halo 5 Spartan Locke and Spartan Kelly Replica helmets are now available for order! But while every big Halo fan is gonna want these helmets, only 500 are going to be able to get them…
Continue Reading →You may notice the frequency of new posts slowing down again here on Halo Toy News for the next week or two. Why? Well, as some of you may have heard, there’s this new video game that just came out–“Halo 5: Guardians”!
But tonight, let me tear myself away from my XBox One, and let’s take a look at another of the McFarlane Halo 5 figures available for order online now, with a review of Fireteam Osiris member Spartan Tanaka!
Continue Reading →It’s been a while since I reviewed a McFarlane Toys Halo 5: Guardians figure, and since I’m all hyped up for the video game to be released in two days, I figured now was a good time to get back in the habit!
I was ultimately let-down by the Agent Locke figure I reviewed in the summer, but that didn’t stop me from buying one of my favorite members of Blue Team! The Halo 5 Spartan Fred figure is available online now for about 12 bucks shipped–is he worth your dollars?
Continue Reading →Halo 5: Guardians may not be released for a few more days, but the Promethean Invasion has begun a little bit early! Although MEGA Brands hasn’t made a big deal about it, one of the final Halo Mega Bloks sets to be released this year has been spotted in the wild (and immediately scooped up to be scalped online): the Mega Bloks Halo 5 Promethean Weapons Customizer Pack has appeared for sale online!
Continue Reading →With the Halo 5: Guardians video game hitting stores in mass next week, anyone who thought we weren’t going to get anything special in the way of a Limited Edition Halo 5: Guardians soundtrack would be forgiven (seeing as how 343 Industries wasn’t exactly forthcoming with the information). But finally, this week Microsoft broke the silence regarding the release of an extra special version of the newest game’s music, and we now know it’s on the way: the Halo 5 Limited Edition Soundtrack is now up for order!
